Match & Mate

Match and Mate is a program designed to determine the best sire to mate with a particular broodmare. To increase the probability of breeding an elite racehorse, the sire and dam must have bio-mechanically proven physcial characteristics of a champion and be compatible to one another in both size and proportions.

This analysis also utilizes the examination of a horse's dam through general combining ability studies. Stallions and broodmares who possess general combining ability are likely to cross well with a large percentage of the population. These horses have a high probability of producing elite racehorses.

In performing a Match & Mate analysis, we first evaluate the broodmare and compare her to stallions within a client's geographical area and stud fee price range to generate a list of compatible sires from our database.

We then refine the list, taking into account each stallion's dominance, current success, conformation grade, and lineage. The final report lists three to ten stallions, their stud fee and location.

Star De Lady Ann GDT Report Measuring Success

At the 1991 Keeneland November Sale, we purchased LADY VIXEN for $45,000 for one of our clients (see BROODMARE EVALUATION to learn more about this success story). Using information highlighted by the GDT Report at right, we recommended a mating to Star De Naskra for a $10,000 stud fee. The result was:

  • STAR DE LADY ANN (Star De Naskra - Lady Vixen) Earnings $196,830, Winner of Acorn Stakes (Gr 1).

And the positive bio-mechanical qualities that made her a success at the racetrack will help ensure that, if bred properly, she will be a success at stud as well.
