Breeding Stock Evaluation - Broodmares
This evaluation identifies those broodmares who will make prime breeding stock for producing an elite racehorse. We perform a bio-mechanical evaluation of the broodmare to ascertain her general combining ability or her probability of reproducing champion-like traits. To assess this quality, we look for the following:
Horses who meet this criteria have a great probability of success. Measuring Success
We purchased LADY VIXEN for $45,000 from the 1991 Keeneland November Sale for a client. Using information highlighted in the GDT Report (click for more examples and information on understanding the GDT Report) below, we concluded that she possessed the bio-mechanical features and consistent genetic make-up necessary to become an elite broodmare. Her ancestors predominantly measure and produce horses of similar body type. This is illustrated in the GDT Report by the predominance of the pink, purple, and red colors which indicate a compatible, consistent body type. LADY VIXEN has subsequently produced two fillies who scored in Grade 1 races at Belmont Park. STAR DE LADY ANN (see MATCH AND MATE to learn how this $196,830 earner was produced from a $10,000 stud fee) captured the Acorn Stakes (Gr 1) while her half-sister, AUNTIE MAME won the Flower Bowl Invitational Handicap (Gr 1).
