What is the GDT Report?

The GDT Report quickly and easily identifies if a yearling was produced from a high probability mating and whether it has the consistent, homogenous genetic bank to be an elite thoroughbred. Accessing the extensive Cecil Seaman & Co. database of over 80,000 measured horses including 758 champions and 646 millionaires, the GDT Report can contain information on up to 3,000 horses from one family line. No other bio-mechanical or genetic analysis tool available today comes close to providing the wealth of valuable information contained in this single report. The GDT Report takes extensive statistical computer analysis and presents it to you in a concise, user-friendly, color-coded report that can be understood with just a glance. Why buy a colt or filly that has low probabilities to reproduce their characteristics? Read on and we will explain how this can be avoided.

How does it work?

Bell Curve Bell Curve (histogram) at the bottom of the first page of each report

  1. Bell curve is based on the total thoroughbred population from our database.
  2. The eleven-color scheme represents the range in body length of the horse (from less than 86 inches to greater than 95 inches). A number is also given for each color code (1-11).

GDT Report (overview)

GDT Report
  1. The GDT Report consists of 4 pages, 1 page is the OFFSPRING MEASURED EVALUATION, and the other 3 are a FIVE generation pedigree (the examples shown here are THREE generation pedigrees for simplicity of website presentation).
  2. Overlap the three red dots on top of each other (there is one red dot on each page) to form the genetic dominance tree for the past five generations.
  3. The top left of the first page gives the name of the horse or the prospective mating for a horse (with Sire and Dam's name) for whom the GDT Report is given. The first generation (parents) is given on the left-hand side in the middle of the page (shown with a square bracket). Subsequent generations are shown with square brackets towards right (oldest being towards extreme right).
  4. On top of each square bracket the Sire is listed while at the bottom the Dam is listed. To the right side of their names the birth year is given. To the left side the internal sequencing number is given.
  5. Above the name of Sire and Dam, a box is shown that gives the Dominant Traits color index, which can be matched to the bell curve for the body length range. On the right side of this box, the given number represents the percentage of horses within the progeny of the Sire and Dam that have the given color index (body length).

Here's How The GDT Report Works

Bell Curve Graph

A good GDT Report shows consistent color throughout the pedigree, ideally purple, red, or pink, the colors located near the center of the bell curve. This indicates a horse produced from a high probability mating, that, will merge well with the majority of the thoroughbred population. On the other hand, a poor GDT Report shows inconsistent color throughout and indicates a low probability of being an elite horse and a successful producer.

What are the "past performance" results for the GDT Report?

Since 1977, owners and breeders have used the bio-mechanical science represented in the powerful GDT Report to purchase or breed 13 Classic Winners, 31 Champions, 31 Millionaires, 97 Grade 1 Winners!

How easy is this report to use and how effective is it?

The GTD Report allows you a visual interpretation of the pedigreet hat an average catalog page can olnly hint at.  The typical catalog page exibits at best a handful of horses, and only those are displayed that have shown some ability. Remember, the key to the GDT Report is looking for the consistent dominant color pattern indicating the bio-mechanical consistency necessary to become a top athlete, money earner, and producer.
