Measuring Success

There are many "advisors" out there. After a major race, they are ready to claim their system identified the most recent stakes winner. This can get a little confusing.

Did they recommend the horse before he began winning? To whom?

It is a little like the guy at the track who cries, "I knew that horse was going to win," but doesn't have a ticket to cash. Fortunately there is no such confusion about our results.

Our success is best demonstrated by the loyalty and success of our clients. Throughout the years, it has been a privilege and an honor working with these people, and we'd like to take this opportunity to tell you about some of their successes!

William Farish

"Cecil Seaman has been on retainer with me since 1980 as my consultant on mating recommendations, and yearlings and stallion evaluations. His method of biomechanical evaluations/statistical analyses has proven of tremendous benefit in the improvement of the soundness and class of our broodmare band, stallions, and racehorses. His scientific research has given us better insight into the probable abilities of a horse for breeding and racing, as well as the conditions to maximize the horse's potential.

He has always conducted himself in a professional and ethical manner in his dealings with me. I have been well satisfied with his services and would certainly give him my highest recommendation as a consultant in the Thoroughbred industry."

--William. S. Farish

William S. Farish is a lifetime horseman and owner of Lane's End -- a full service thoroughbred facility. The farm is located on almost 2,000 acres in Woodford County in the heart of Central Kentucky. Lane's End has been the leading consignor at the Keeneland and Saratoga sales more than 15 times. In a recent study by an industry publication analyzing the performances of sales yearlings, Lane's End ranked first among consignors selling 75 or more yearlings in the two most important categories: Percent of Stakes Winners and Average Earnings per Runner. Since becoming a client of Cecil Seaman in 1980, Mr. Farish has bred 150 stakes winners and in 1992 he was Eclipse Breeder of the Year.

George Strawbridge

"Cecil Seaman, of Thoroughbred Analysts, has been very helpful to me since 1983 in planning the selection, use, and matings of my horses. With the help of his measurements, I have had an advantage when purchasing broodmares and yearlings. He has helped me immensely by suggesting matings for my stock and has offered his opinion, based on measurements, as to the best racing distances and locations for my horses in training."

--George Strawbridge, Jr.

Mr. Strawbridge has a PhD. in Latin American History from University of Pennsylvania. He is on the Board of Directors of Campbell Soup Company, Delaware Trust Co., and Meridan Bancorp. His Augustin Stables is steeplechasing's all-time money-winning owner. He was leading breeder of Pennsylvania-breds five times and is a member of racing's Hall of Fame. He was awarded the F. Ambrose Clark Award in 1979.

John Nerud

"Cecil (Seaman) has a tool that can be used, especially by people new in the business, he can tell if the physical structure is there to be a race horse. If the yearlings don't measure up, I don't go to look at them. I disregard them. I use Cecil as an advance man."

--John A. Nerud
Hall of Fame Trainer and Top Breeder

Sonny Hine

"Right on target!" "Cecil Seaman evaluated SKIP AWAY as a three-year-old before the Blue Grass Stakes. His projections placed him in the top one-half percent of graded stakes horses and sound enough to make 40 lifetime starts at a distance of seven furlongs to a mile and half plus."

--Sonny Hine
  Trainer of Skip Away

Skip Away was the second leading money winner of all time, earning $9,616,360. He won 3 Divisional Championships and was the 1998 Horse of the Year.
